Direct Care at 6th Street
This facility provides more extensive care services for residents with advanced support needs.

We believe Casa de Esperanza is the best kept secret in Tucson.  Very special people reside at our facility and our staff becomes extended family.  Our eldest resident is 101 and our youngest is 51!
We offer Supervisory and Direct Care Services

Owners are Linda Anderson-Haines and John Haines.  We live on property. John has owned Casa de Esperanza for over two and one half years. Linda arrived in March, moving from Montana, leaving a 20 year career in tourism and hospitality in Seattle and Montana.   John has owned businesses in California and Montana.  We understand the aging process with parents, grandparents and loved ones.  Through both properties of Casa de Esperanza and our staff, we make a difference on a daily basis in the lives of our residents.

Walking

There are walk-ways with hand railiings around the courtyard of the home, making it easy for resident to walk. There are plenty of chairs to sit and visit. We also have a ramada that is great for visiting or just taking a rest. At 7am we have coffee set up outside for the residents. Over coffee our residents visit and solve the world's problems.

Rooms

The rooms are unfurnished and private. There are vanities in each room so the resident can groom themselves at any time without bothering others. Shared bathrooms have a commode and shower. All rooms and bathrooms are equipped with emergency alarms. When the alarm is pulled it rings into the kitchen and the managers' room. There are two managers and one or the other is present at all times. The alarm is answered within seconds.

Furniture

Residents bring their own furniture which provides a feeling of belonging. We encourage residents to hang pictures and put personal phootos in their rooms. All rooms have central air conditioning, ceiling fans, carpets, blinds, and a closet. The rooms are wired for phones and cable. If residents wish to have either service they make their own arrangements through the appropriate provider. Residents generally furnish the room with a single bed, night stand, lamp, dresser or chest, a comfortable chair and television.

Bedding & Laundry

We ask residents to bring two sets of bedding so that housekeeping staff may strip the bedding and put clean sheets on at the same time. Residents also bring their own towels. Cleaning of the rooms occurs once a week, at which time personal laundry is done. Each residents laundry is washed and dried separately from the other residents. Families do not mark clothing. Assistance with showers is available twice each week. Shower schedules are established at the time of move-in.

Diets & Medication

We make the necessary adjustments for residents with special dietary requirements . Snacks are brought to their rooms at 3pm every day. All medications are given to the residents by the manager at the appropriate time. No medication is allowed in the resident's room. If residents choose to have medication in bubble packs we will remove ordering of medications. If they choose not to use bubble packs, they or a family member will fill the med boxes. Arizona State Law prohibits us from filling med boxes. All employees are trained and certified in CPR and first aid.

Holidays

We celebrate holiday with parties for the residents. Family members are invited to celebrate the 4th of July cook-out and a Christmas party with us. Birthdays are a special day for our residents and they choose what they would like for their birthday dessert, which is served at the 5:30pm meal. Candles on the dessert and singing, "Happy Birthday" always seem to make for a happy day for the resident. Various groups visit to entertain the residents.
